Introduction

New artistic synergies, harsh electroacoustic sounds, and DIY constructions from stone, bronze, and wood, make up the opening night of the fourth Athens Tectonics Festival.

The first day of the fourth Athens Tectonics Festival begins with a new collaboration between Savina Yannatou and Elena Kakaliagou, Costis Drygiannakis, and Haris Pazaroulas. Following them, avant-garde music veteran Limpe Fuchs transforms materials such as stone, bronze, and wood into musical instruments. The first night of the Festival closes with the harsh electronic sounds of Rashad Becker.

Costis Drygianakis (electronics), Elena Kakaliagou (French horn), Haris Pazaroulas (double bass), Savina Yannatou (voice)

For their first collaboration, the four musicians combine their multi-year experience in the field of contemporary and improvisational music, instigating sparse soundscapes in the multi-space Ω2 of the Athens Conservatoire. Unusual sounds and unheard timbres, produced by voice, French horn, double bass, and recording devices, coalesced in an instant composition lasting 40 minutes.

Limpe Fuchs

A primordial power overtakes the live performances of composer, percussionist, and instrument maker Limpe Fuchs. Primary materials, such as stone, bronze, and wood are transformed into vibrating objects, as the now 80-year musician moves among her DIY constructions. A site-specific sound performance, where movement, sound, and space become one.

Rashad Becker

Harsh and multi-layered electronic sounds by a multifaceted musician, sound engineer, and producer, who has often been described as one of the most prominent mastering engineers of recent years.
