Savina Yannatou
Yannatou launched her professional career singing on the “Edo Lilipoupoli” (Lilipoupoli Here) radio show on the ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation) Third Program, working in partnership with Lena Platonos (1978-81). She has collaborated with many Greek composers, performing éntekhno (art music) songs. Since 1994, together with the Primavera en Salonico ensemble, she has sung songs from the Mediterranean and the Balkans at festivals across the world, and has recorded albums on the Lyra and ECM labels.
She is also active as a free improvisation vocalist of the free jazz scene. She has composed music for the National Theater of Greece, the National Theater of Northern Greece, the Regional and Municipal Theater of Larisa, and the Neos Kosmos Theater. Her discography comprises some 30 records, counting both her solo albums and guest appearances.
