Introduction

How do you choose which book to take from a library for browsing? The power of bookbinding doesn’t just lie in attracting one’s gaze, but also in transforming simple pages into books.

This workshop is like a double journey. Book spines, covers, ornaments, clasps, stiches, glues, and presses: these words may seem unfamiliar.

In this workshop you will not only discover their meaning, but will also learn the art of turning stacks of pages into books. In just a few hours, you will be ready to make your own decisions like experienced bookbinders You will decide if they need to be sewn, go to press for gluing, get trimmed or even hammered.

You will not be alone in this journey. Collaborating with staff from Foinikas Publications, you will be able to turn your newly gained knowledge into action, leaving the workshop with your own unique notebook.
