Introduction

Respect, consent, safety: An informative workshop about how sexual education can become the main tool in dealing with and preventing sexual abuse.

What are the particular features of sexual harassment and abuse? Is there a pattern of behavior between victim and perpetrator? What is the role of the school community in general and teachers in particular when they become aware of an incident? How can education help teachers?

The Onassis Foundation continues to take important initiatives about issues of sexual education. On the occasion of the introduction of the Sexual Education curriculum in schools for the school year 2021–2022 and in light of the sexual violence incidents that have shocked public opinion, teachers of primary and secondary education will have the opportunity to get information and become more aware about these issues, receiving support. Through interventions of sexual education, they can create conditions for the prevention of sexual abuse and for the safety of their students. Focus will be given on analyzing incidents that take place in school and family environments, but also in the digital world.
