Introduction

How can the treble clef unlock the emotions and skills of children on the broader autism spectrum? A music workshop for parents and children that opens up channels of communication using rhythms and notes.

When words are written using musical notes, across Greece. This successful Onassis Foundation educational program is boldly setting off on its musical journey once more, around regional towns (following two years of silence necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic), bringing songs and moments of joy to all our young friends, and making its first stop this year in Perachora, Corinth. On May 13, 14 and 15, mixed groups of children – both with and without Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and together with their parents and teachers – are invited to take part in a never-ending musical game.

Listen, look, and leap into this game designed specially for all your senses. Musicians and teachers will be by your side, tailoring every musical activity to your wants and abilities. In this workshop, sounds and musical instruments help each child to release their emotions and develop their social skills. The goal of the workshop is to get children on the broader autism spectrum to unleash their creativity and feel part of the group through an experience of teamwork.

The musical arts go beyond every form of lingual communication, and are journeying to new destinations this year – various regional towns in Greece – in order to improve access to education and play for all.
