Introduction

What is a city game? How can we play with the city using our imagination and mobile phones? Look at your neighborhood as a game designer and create your own game in the streets of Athens.

“Urban games” – or “city games” – are those we can play in the streets and neighborhoods, while discovering our city with the help of technology. In this workshop, physical and digital space meet in interactive stories, and games are played with mobile devices in a hybrid learning environment.

Young people explore the city, learn information about Athens and discover its hidden aspects, and create new narratives with the help of digital media.

The aim of the workshop is to make the participants curious about their city and urban landscape, to introduce them to the theoretical framework of game design and to share the principles of collaborative design through examples in cultural, artistic, educational and philosophical contexts.
