Online presentation of the Panhellenic Student Competition “Hack the Map: Imaginary Worlds”

Drawing inspiration from travelers’ maps and imaginary illustrations of geographical areas (cities, seascapes, broader regions) of sixteenth to twentieth-century Greece, which are part of the collections of the Onassis Foundation, the General State Archives of Greece, the Cartographic Heritage Archives / Historical Archives of Macedonia, as well as several other foundations, museums, and libraries, groups of students are invited to choose one or more cartographic exhibits and to connect them with historical events, myths, or even fiction narratives.

New technologies, riddles, and symbols are intertwined in a multimedia competition which is inspired by the awesome narratives provided by foreign travelers in the past, and encourages groups of students to create a digital game, a digital narrative, or Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) apps.

Learn more about the competition, sign up, and prepare yourselves for a journey through time ‘hacking’ Greek lands and seas with digital tools.
