Introduction

Museum curator? Programmer or perhaps writer? In this workshop you’ll combine all three identities, using augmented reality technology to create an original digital platform for the Onassis Library, a digital tour that will make our experience of it soar.

Can you imagine standing in front a book or a painting and having it suddenly start talking to you? And best of all—you could be the one who figures out how to make it happen.

In this workshop we will learn how to create platforms for touring spaces, using of augmented reality technology. We will choose some of the valuable books, works of art, and objects in the Onassis Library to “bring to life.”

For instance, we may create sound files, videos, or explanations that will jump before the visitor’s eyes whenever their tablet turns that way.

How would you choose to have a painting by El Greco or Rigas’s map of Greece interact with a visitor? A text, a sound file, or maybe something visual? Your decision will get the digital tour started.
