You don’t have to be Harry Potter to change loose pages into a book. You just need to discover the secrets of bookbinding, the ways we can use to bind the pages so that they can take the form of a book.
Let’s say you have lots of loose pages in your hands and you have to turn them into a book. How would you go about it? Would you stitch or sew them? Use a press or glue? Trim or staple them? “What’s all this?” you’re bound to wonder. And with reason.
They’re all terms of bookbinding – the technique of binding pages into a book. In this workshop, we will introduce you to this process and its history with the help of Foinikas Publications.
In the historic rooms of the Onassis Library, we will closely observe the process of bookbinding and make our own notepad.Photo: Yiannis Soulis
