The Onassis Foundation, in collaboration with the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP), under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, and in the framework of AI_ducation Festival, realizes a series of educational workshops aimed at getting to know, understanding, and implementing algorithmic technologies, data, and software. The workshops put the educators themselves center stage, regardless of their level of technological knowledge.

Workshop 1

Future Impulses: Artificial Intelligence

This engaging workshop offers an overview of the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, demonstrations, and discussion of practical examples and real-world problems. We also look at the issue of data bias and have a fun exploration of some more creative uses.

The workshop concludes with the Idea Factory, where participants collaborate on a novel future concept for education which is then playfully conceptualized and visualized by generative AI.

Time
10:00–14:00

Participation Condition
The workshop will be held in English.

Workshop 2

Future Insights: Artificial Intelligence

In addition to the basics of Artificial Intelligence, various training methods and their specific application areas are covered. How do AI applications actually learn from data, and how could they evolve even further? We also look at the issue of data bias and how our societal biases are reflected in the outcomes of AI applications, especially when it comes to AI in the media. The workshop will conclude with the Idea Factory, where participants will collaborate on a creative idea for the future of education, which will then be imaginatively designed and illustrated by generative AI.

Time
15:00–19:00

Participation Conditions
The workshop will be held in English.

Workshop 3

Utilization of Artificial Intelligence tools in Education

The development and availability of tools that use Artificial Intelligence for material production (texts, images) have set new impressive standards in all sectors, including education. The availability of several tools, either free of charge (with limited yet satisfying capabilities) or with a subscription, in conjunction with the existing school infrastructure (computers, tablets), allows their implementation both for the development of material by educators and their use by students themselves.

The workshop will allow educators with basic computer skills but little or no experience with AI tools to implement the presented tools, understand the capabilities of the tools for material production, and propose ways of implementing them in their classrooms.

In the first part of the workshop, the educators will work on an individual level to learn about the tools and their capabilities, while in the second part, they will work collectively to assess the AI tools. At the end of the workshop, each team will present the outcomes of their observations/assessments to the rest.

Time
10:00–14:00

Participation Conditions
-The workshop will be held in Greek.
-Participating educators will need to bring their personal laptop, as well as create Microsoft Hotmail/Outlook and Gmail accounts for accessing the services to be used.

Workshop 4

Developing digital learning material through AI tools

AI tools can be used in education, both by educators to develop digital content (teaching aids, worksheets, assessments) and by students as learning tools (production of written speech, personalized work, etc.).

Through this workshop, emphasis will be given to the development of digital material that will enhance educators in compiling their own digital material for use with their students and the use of AI applications as learning tools in the classroom.

In the first part of the workshop, AI tools will be used for material production by educators, with a focus on teaching aid strategies and the development of worksheets and assessments. In addition, potential combinations of AI tools with online learning environments such as Moodle will be presented.

In the second part of the workshop, educators will work in groups to assess material developed by the AI tools and to forge a learning scenario at group level. Each group will present its scenario in the last half hour of the workshop.

Time
15:00–19:00

Participation Conditions
-The workshop will be held in Greek.
-Participating educators will need to bring their personal laptop, as well as create Microsoft Hotmail/Outlook and Gmail accounts for accessing the services to be used.

Workshop 5

GenAI in Education: Creating Enriched Courses on the 100mentors Platform

The “GenAI in Education: Creating Enriched Courses on the 100mentors Platform” workshop aims to introduce educators of all levels to the capabilities of GenAI in developing tailor-made educational materials to meet classroom needs. Participants will have the opportunity to become accustomed to the 100mentors platform, which emphasizes the significance of collaboration and mentoring when creating the generated work with the use of GenAI tools.

At the workshop, the educators will learn about the 100mentors’ mission to promote the responsible and safe use of GenAI in the workflows of educators. The needs and challenges faced by educators will be explored, while the opportunities offered by GenAI for the development of quality and customized courses will be further discussed.

Through this hands-on experience, the participants will learn how to create and optimize prompts on the 100mentors platform and adjust the outcomes to their classroom needs and broader educational goals. Best practices for the responsible use of GenAI technology will be presented, and the critical role of the human factor and collaboration with colleagues or experts will be further highlighted.

The workshop will include a live demonstration of collaboration with a mentor, where participants will experience first-hand how a mentor can contribute to the assessment and improvement of the work produced. Finally, best practices for the safe integration of GenAI tools into the classroom will be discussed. The objective is for participants to gain skills and knowledge that will enable them to leverage GenAI safely and effectively in their educational practice.

Time
10:00–14:00

Participation Conditions
-The workshop will be held in Greek.
-The participating educators will need to bring a smart device (mobile phone, tablet, laptop).

Worshop 7

Artificial Intelligence and Education

In this seminar, the participants will have the opportunity to engage in two sessions focusing on the dynamics of AI in education.

1st Session: Artificial Intelligence and Education

We will begin with the challenge of taking the next step, filling possible knowledge and skill gaps. We will provide answers to questions such as: Are we on the eve of a creative disaster? Is there a risk of foregoing our identity? Is our resourcefulness becoming limited? Should we encourage using such tools as a guide to adaptation rather than an object of assessment?

We will witness first-hand the presentation of 27+1 ideas for implementing AI applications in education, and we will get to know the mechanisms and function principles behind these modern-day artifacts. The significant shifts that are due, although difficult, are necessary to mobilize the educational process.

2nd Session: Utilization of Artificial Intelligence

In the second session, we will engage experientially with examples of using AI applications in courses and school activities. We will explore how educators can obtain digital assistants that enhance their tasks and foster motivation for further creativity. More specifically, we will learn how to use chatbots for the development of lesson plans, comprehension questions, questionnaires, and assessment tests.

With these approaches, the participants will gain the necessary skills to utilize AI as a tool that enhances and inspires creativity in education.

Time
10:00–14:00

Participation Conditions
-The workshop will be held in Greek.
-The participating educators will need to bring their personal laptop.
