The Organizing Committee and the Evaluation Committee of the National Student Competition ‘Wikipedia Challenge: Become a Contemporary Encyclopedist!’ would like to congratulate all school groups that were awarded. They also congratulate and thank all students for their participation, as well as the leading teachers for their substantial support from the beginning to the end of the competition process.

The aim of this competition was to familiarize both students and teachers with the way Wikipedia works, to acknowledge its use as a pedagogical tool following the 21st-century educational standards, and to enrich its contents with entries related to the Greek Revolution of 1821. It is also a participatory initiative towards fostering Grecophony and reconstituting historical knowledge on issues regarding the Greek Revolution, with a contemporary online encyclopedia as a vehicle.

All school groups had the opportunity to practice critical thinking and scientific approach required for writing, editing, and structuring an encyclopedia entry. Contributions of collaborative encyclopedia entries submitted at Phase B of the Competition were remarkable and showed the great effort, the perseverance, and the interest of both students and teachers to work methodically and collectively in order to deliver an even result.

Congratulations to all those who have reached the end of this interdisciplinary educational experience, to the schools, the headmasters, the leading teachers, the students but also their parents!

We wish you to keep up utilizing the tools and knowledge you have acquired, not to give up easily, do what you love and make all your dreams come true.

We are looking forward to seeing you next school year in a student competition that will take us digitally into the world of Art!
