Orgamites go back to school | 2024-2025
The beloved educational program returns and continues the free of charge monthly online presentations in primary schools to promote healthy living and highlight the importance of organ donation.
This year’s goal is to further expand the community of 20000 pupils and teachers all around Greece who have already dived into the world of our body’s vital organs through Orgamites, the innovative educational program implemented in the primary schools by the Hellenic Transplant Organization, with the support of the Onassis Foundation.
Primary school pupils, aged 7 to 11, can participate in the program and attend one of the monthly online presentations (October 2024 – May 2025). The only requirement is for the class’ coordinating teacher to timely fill in the application form.
The first online presentation was held on Wednesday, October 16, at 10:00.
During the presentations, the pupils’ questions take us on a fun ride, full of discoveries and knowledge. With the characters of the Orgamites on their side, they dive into the unique world of the human body organs.
Orgamites teach children, in a creative and fun way, about what makes our heart beat strong, the lungs pulsing in and out, the kidneys safeguarding our body’s health. Furthermore, concepts such as organ donation and transplantation are discussed in a child-friendly language with the view to shaping a new culture of solidarity based on love for health and life.
The award-winning educational program, which started in England, continues its journey for the fourth consecutive year, in the context of the Actions and Primary Healthcare Programs of the Hellenic Ministry of Health.
Apart from the online presentations, teachers and parents can download the digital material consisting of a handbook, presentations and games, to share with the children either in the classroom or at home.
Through the use of the Orgamites main presentation, the discussion for healthcare and organ donation enters the public arena for the very first time.
The program is addressed to all primary schools.
For the online presentations, places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
