Together for Health: The Orgamites meet Mihalis Kefalogiannis and re-enter the classrooms | 2024–2025
At the beginning of the new school year, Orgamites gain another ‘ally’ in their journey to every corner of Greece: journalist Mihalis Kefalogiannis, who covers every significant initiative in the field of health.
The popular education program on healthy living and organ donation is back in the classrooms this school year to tidy up children’s knowledge and put it into proper order! Furthering the free monthly online presentations at primary schools, Orgamites teach children every little thing about their bodies, how to take care of them, and the miracle of transplant.
From Crete to Limnos and from Pella to Messinia, more than 20,000 students have participated in the educational program “Orgamites” since January 2021.
We learn about what’s inside; we learn to love life.
Primary school students aged 7 to 11 can participate in the program by attending one of the monthly online presentations (October 2024–May 2025). The only requirement is for the class’s coordinating teacher to fill out the application form timely.
Starting in England and then embraced by Scotland and Canada, the much-cherished educational program is back with us for the fourth consecutive school year to give healthcare tips and educate us all about organ donation. It is included in the actions and interventions of the Hellenic Ministry of Health’s Primary Healthcare Programs.
What makes the heart beat strong? The lungs let air in and out? The kidneys act as guardians of our body’s well-being? Through their questions, children participate in an entertaining journey of discovery and knowledge in the unique company of the “Orgamites” and become ‘captains’ of their own health.
Moreover, issues such as organ donation and transplantation are expressed in children’s language and special communication codes to instill in tomorrow's adults a new culture of solidarity based on the love of health and life as a shared foundation.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to send your message to education@onassis.org.
The program is addressed to all primary schools.
For the online presentations, places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
An educational program under the scientific aegis of the Hellenic Transplant Organization and the Ministry of Health, with the support of the Onassis Foundation.
