Onassis Publications
The diverse universe of the Onassis Foundation is rendered on the pages of the new Onassis Publications. The unique visual world of the pre-eminent Greek choreographer Dimitris Papaioannou; a study on the Athenian polykatoikía and the identity of the city of Athens; the most recent series of artworks by the internationally acclaimed visual artist Jannis Varelas; the first-ever synthetic manga comic book generated with emergent Artificial Intelligence; and a socio-scientific glossary on the weather.
The new publication series of the Onassis Foundation traces and documents trends in current research, brings forth notable Greek artists of our days, and raises questions about issues that will concern us in the future – such as AI, political ecology, and digital culture. In addition to the printed volumes, Onassis Publications include vinyl LP and CD releases, which create a universe around the Onassis Stegi productions, featuring the music of landmark shows or even educational projects. Onassis Publications trigger a creative debate between artists, researchers, scholars, as well as the domestic and international readership community, highlighting the importance of research, experimentation, and collective reflection.
Onassis Publications catalog is structured in imprints exploring different facets of knowledge production:
ΑΩ: An imprint dedicated to the documentation of the ever-evolving Greek contemporary art scene, focusing on its most notable representatives.
Polis: This imprint documents diverse research and architectural perspectives on the urban and built environment, as well as the public space, in Greece and the wider Mediterranean area.
Mellon: Named after the Greek word for future, it explores the political and artistic ramifications of new media and digital culture in our everyday life and our near future.
