Introduction

People communicated, shared secrets and fell in love long before emails, text messages, and touchscreens. Τravel through time and discover the “emoticons” of the past.

Before Greeklish – hated by grown-ups – and the hearts that we exchange on social media, there were letters, drawings, symbols, and calligraphy. People have always tried to communicate with one another, but simply did it through different means. The same will happen with the next generations in the future.

In this workshop we won’t travel to the past. We will turn it into something tangible, bringing it to the here and now. Get ready to express yourselves using writing materials from another era. Become calligraphers; create your own unique manuscripts on aged paper; use calligraphy pens, brushes and real ink, as if you lived at the time when communication stained the hands and was hidden in drawers or under the pillows.
