The books of European travelers are an extremely important part of the collection of the Onassis Library. Participants, will learn how the travelogues constitute evidence of national memory and identity by recording the evolving aesthetics of the concept of urban space.
We will focus on the relationship of the contemporary man with the (Greek) landscape and the outdoor life and we will discuss relevant touring practices and “landscape performances. The question is how travel accounts and exposure to externality prescribe or suggest a new perception of urban space.
