Digital Material | Orgamites

Parents, teachers, and health visitors, having the Orgamites by their side, can teach new generations about the function of the human body organs, the ways to take care of them to lead a healthy life, as well as the value of organ donation and transplantation, forging a better future for all.

These Orgamite digital learning materials are both a playful game and a tool for answering any questions children and adults alike might have.

Healthcare and organ donation become part of the national curriculum in Greece. Through the Orgamites, the discussion about health, major body organs but also organ donation opens in primary schools. The Orgamites give rise to the hope for a healthier future for all.

Which is the busiest organ in our body with more than 200 different functions? Which one looks like a powerful pump pushing blood throughout the body? Which organ “loves” water and which one “adores” regular exercise the most? But also, how can a doctor replace an organ when it is not functioning properly?

These difficult questions turn into fascinating stories through the characters of the Orgamites, designed specifically for children (aged 6-11), and we can find them in the educational material included in the actions and interventions of the Primary Healthcare Programs of the Hellenic Ministry of Health for the school year 2022-23 (thematic area 19).

Hope is born in primary school classrooms. More and more people can learn to take care of their bodies, as well as realize the importance of organ donation. The children of today will be the adults of tomorrow who know how to care for their bodies, and who recognize the importance and value of organ donation.
