Introduction

Open Technologies, open knowledge. When artificial intelligence meets education, there can only come wonders. The presentation of the winning projects of the 3rd Panhellenic Open Technologies Competition will take place online on Friday, February 18, at 13:00.

Despite the pandemic restrictions, more than 1000 students and 160 teachers with 128 teams from all the country’s regions participated in the 3rd Panhellenic Open Technologies in Education Competition and experimented with learning through Open Technologies during the 2020–2021 school year. All the projects completed by the teams were excellent. The 41 winning entries stood out for their idea and its implementation, and their detailed instructions for construction-use and teaching that enable the projects to be reusable by other schools.

The online event will provide an opportunity for the students who worked seamlessly in such extraordinary circumstances to present and share their work with their peers and the teaching community.

The competition’s aim is to share knowledge among students, teachers, schools and the broader society

The future begins with children

What do our children imagine, think and feel about artificial intelligence? Is it a robot, a smart device that disappears into the environment or a way of thinking? Can students take the future into their own hands? And if so, what will it look like?

The Onassis Foundation in collaboration with the Open Technologies Organization is supporting the third student open technology competition on the theme of Artificial Intelligence, a topic crucial to society, the economy and human life. Following the “You and AI” exhibition at Pedion tou Areos, where we explored AI as a key component and an open question for the 21st century man, we are asking students to design AI technologies or talk about their view of AI through the use of open technologies and tools.

More than 120 schools from all over Greece present the results of their efforts and invite us to see the future through their eyes their robots’.
—Prodromos Tsiavos
