Introduction

When sound becomes our compass in the darkness and movement creates its own sounds, that’s where dance without discrimination begins.

Photo: Stavros Petropoulos

In this year’s workshop, we will create a repertoire of movements and sounds and produce compositions large and small with the help of the voice, musical instruments, texts and technology.

By sharing our experiences, we will learn how to activate our other senses and determine our artistic expression in terms of others.

We pose questions, create sound and movement material, experiment with external stimuli, and activate group movement through hearing.
How can we redefine our presence in the darkness using sound as a spatial awareness tool?

Following a short introduction to acoustic ecology and exposure to recordings made of different soundscapes, we experiment with movement and sound production as ways of orienting ourselves with a view to creating a musical biotope.

The end-result will be presented at an open event at the Onassis Stegi.
