Introduction
An internet radio station in constant movement. Movement Radio returns to the area of Kypseli with live performances, DJ-sets, discussions, and a photo exhibition. How do we carry the essence of our neighborhoods from one city to another? What does dance mean for people who come from other countries and how do they integrate this into the city they live in? Onassis Stegi broadcasts live once again with Movement Radio.
For one more time, the Onassis Stegi Movement Radio does what knows best: to carve sonic paths and suggest new standards of listening. On 12 November, Movement Radio and the Syrian & Greek Youth Forum (SGYF) draw their own map and invite us to wander around Kypseli, at Fokionos Negri and Patission Streets, as well as Agiou Georgiou Square, in four different venues with music as their common thread. They employ the Mediterranean region as a micrograph and project it on an Athenian district, inviting us on a journey with the vision of a common future for the peoples of the Mediterranean as our only baggage. They focus on the premise of free movement of people and ideas through common narratives, common stories, and sounds of the region, designing routes across Kypseli and highlighting its robust musical and cultural character.
Musicians and DJs of Movement Radio and SGYF lay sonic traces at the Kypseli Municipal Market, as well as Au Revoir, It’s a ΒΙΛΑΤΖ and Black & White bars. From the live performance of Ecko Bazz & STILL to the big band, the MCs and the unique music program of the Syrian & Greek Youth Forum, and from DJ-sets by POLYXENE, Olenxxa, ΚΕΜΑΛ, Chevy, Chico Naral to discussions and a photo exhibition by Pinelopi Gerasimou, Movement Radio invites us to listen to the sounds of the city through hip-hop, traditional music from the Middle East, electro, ambient, and more.

The “Mediterranean Futures: On the Move” event will begin at the Municipal Market in the early afternoon. The live performance of Ecko Bazz and STILL – a unique collaboration between the rapper from Uganda and the Italian music producer – stands out. The Syrian & Greek Youth Forum, in collaboration with Ferket el Anwar band, will present a musical with performers from Syria and Greece. Musicians Al Fawares will give short dabke dance lessons, followed by a performance from Egyptian rapper Thomas. Vienna-based Greek DJ POLYXENE will lure us to an intricate web of breaks, electro, and electrifying rhythms. Olenxxa invites us to immerse ourselves in a parallel sonic space-time through a unique afternoon ambient live set.
A listening session with source material from the Citizen Sound archive of SGYF, as well as a discussion with a focus on Kypseli and how we absorb and transfer the essence of our neighborhoods from one city another, will take place at noon.
Following the event at the Municipal Market, the program will be further continued in three bars in the area of Kypseli (Au Revoir, It's a ΒΙΛΑΤΖ and Black & White), where DJs and selectors of Movement Radio will seduce us to an “on the move” party in the area, complementing our wanderings with the rich sounds that characterize the Athenian radio. At the same time, a photo exhibition by Pinelopi Gerasimou, with photos from Movement Radio events of the past two years, will be hosted at the exhibition space of It's a ΒΙΛΑΤΖ bar.
