“Athens – Drawing Sonic Maps” | Movement Radio highlights the sonic maps of Athens, presenting live some of the most creative DJs of the city on Saturday, May 14
The one-day event, “Athens – Drawing Sonic Maps,” free to attend, in the context of Mediterranean Futures program, focuses on bringing together the Movement Radio’s residents that are part of the city’s vibrant music scene, drawing on Athens’ rich history of parties, culture, and nightlife and the generations that informed it.
Onassis Stegi’s online radio station aims to highlight the sonic maps of the city, connecting different geographies and timelines, and to support the people that draw these maps, from the bars and the clubs to the radio shows and the art events.
In this event at bar LULU, Movement Radio functions as a pop-up radio station, springing for one day in the center of Athens and presenting 12 B2B-DJ-sets with some of the most talented, creative, and diverse DJs and selectors inhabiting the Athenian scene.
These residents are diggers and selectors with a love for the rare, precious find; grooveheads that aim for that freewheeling flow; experimental electronic and avant-garde enthusiasts who reach for that place beyond the boundaries.
Movement Radio brings the periphery back to the center, with diverse generations and different approaches to music gathering under the roof of LULU bar, filling it with a myriad sounds, inviting us to rethink the movement of our bodies in a public space through the social ritual of dance.
