Cate Blanchett performs important art manifestos not just in one but thirteen roles, in an incredible one-woman show.
The Onassis Stegi in collaboration with Danaos Films presents a cinematic homage to the most inspiring art statements of the twentieth century.
One of the best actresses of cinema and theatre internationally, Cate Blanchett comes together with Julian Rosefeldt, an important contemporary artist whose work is presented at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, and Saatchi Gallery, London, in a cinematic dialogue that draws its inspiration from the great art manifestos. From the futurists and the dadaists to pop art, Lars von Trier, and Jim Jarmusch, "Manifesto" explores the results and political consequences of such statements.
Cate Blanchett interprets the great art manifestos not just in one but in thirteen roles: futurism, dada, fluxus, situationists, Dogma 95, and other architectural and artistic proclamations make together a manifesto of manifestos. In search of the artist’s role in contemporary society, the Australian actress performs in a unique manner 13 different characters, including a teacher, a presenter, a worker, a homeless person, and a drug addict.
Screenings will be introduced by film critic Christos Mitsis ("Athinorama" Magazine).

The video-installation "Manifesto" consists of 13 videos. From 1 June to 19 July, it was screened at ‘Peiraios 260’ in the context of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival.
One of the most important contemporary artists, Julian Rosefeldt studied architecture. His works are found in the most important museums internationally, including: Museum of Modern Art (MoMA, New York), Saatchi Gallery (London), Goetz Collection (Munich), Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (Vienna), and Maison Européenne de la Photographie (Paris). In 2010 he became a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts, at the Department of Film and Media Art. Since 2011, he has been a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. He works closely with the Schaubühne, Berlin, and director Thomas Ostermeier.
