In December, "Flix it at the Onassis Stegi" pays homage to a key figure on the Greek electronic music scene: Lena Platonos. With the première of Christos Petrou's documentary "λπ", a special live performance with Platonos and Philip Jeck, and an after-party with a dj set from Josh Cheon, it's going to be an action-packed evening.
"Flix it at the Onassis Stegi" is staging a tribute to Lena Platonos which will follow her all the way from the early, unforgettable days of "Sabotage" through into the present, where a new generation of musicians both in Greece and further afield have inevitably become recent and enthusiastic converts to her music.
"Flix it at the Onassis Stegi" is proud to present the world première of «λπ», Christos Petrou's documentary recording the life, work, impact and timelessness of Lena Platonos in a constantly surprising, moving and genuinely inspiring portrait of a great artist.
The music of Lena Platonos, an important figure on the Greek electronic music scene whose ground-breaking work was far, far ahead of its time, is now earning her more and more fans around the world, thanks to the re-release of her records and remixes of her tracks. With the help of colleagues, friends and contemporary artists from Greece and abroad, λπ takes us back to the era in which these revolutionary LPs were made.
After the film, it will be time to hear Lena Platonos live on stage, playing an acoustic set on piano, picking up the thread of «λπ» and conveying it live to the audience in collaboration with the outstanding Philip Jeck. Jeck is a unique musician: a turntablist extraordinaire, if we want to attach a label to his work, he uses vinyl which he loops and 'abuses' live on battered old—though not only—turntables to create musical environments which defy description. His concerts are musical events. At the Onassis Stegi, his set will be based exclusively on the three records which form the subject of «λπ» ("Masks of the Sun", "Gallup", "Lepidoptera").
After the live performance, Josh Cheon of Dark Entries Records will perform a dj set in the Onassis Stegi lobby featuring the music that has made him so very much in demand in every corner of our planet.
