An outrageous and, at the same time, tender homage to female psychology. We celebrate International Women's Day by screening a restored copy of Pedro Almodóvar's film 30 years after its first screening.

The film that established Pedro Almodóvar on both sides of the Atlantic is an outrageous and, at the same time, tender homage to female psychology. A classic film about everything that can happen when things all around start to fall apart and, simultaneously, a hilarious, tragic, colorful, unbelievable -yet true- survival guide for every era.

“Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” gave Pedro Almodóvar the award for Best Screenplay and Carmen Maura the award for Best Actress at the Venice International Film Festival; among many other distinctions, the film was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Apart from Pedro Almodóvar’s muse Carmen Maura, many of his favorite actors –with whom he collaborated again in other films- hold protagonistic roles, such as Rossy de Palma, Antonio Banderas, Chus Lampreave and others. The film premiered in Spain in March 1988.

Before the film, there will be a screening of a video-tribute to the women of Greek cinema, while afterwards, there will be a party at the foyer of the 5th floor with music and strong gazpacho.
