What are the core characteristics displayed by schoolchildren with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)? What does the latest research data reveal about ASD? What is applied behavior analysis, and what techniques can be used during the teaching process? An educational program designed specially for professionals supporting schoolchildren with ASD.

There are many quandaries that professionals working with children with ASD are called upon to tackle each day. Quandaries that end up facilitating the way in which they work to support the children themselves, but also help give their parents a better understanding of the situation. Taking all these unknowns as a point of departure, and spurred by the Onassis Foundation’s support for the Laboratory for Special Education and Family Counseling at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, this educational program and its topics were formulated with a view to providing special education teachers, therapists, and mental health professionals with further training.

Find out more about the challenges that children with ASD face as they are being integrated into school environments, and the ways in which they can be supported effectively. Discover, too, how theory of mind and executive functions relate both to the difficulties faced by schoolchildren with ASD and to intervention strategies, so that you can meet their needs in holistic ways.

As part of this program, you will get the chance to broaden your knowledge with regard to autism spectrum disorder and be shown how to intervene in more systematic ways to meet the complex needs of children and their families, while also earning a certificate of attendance.

Sharing scientifically proven facts and raising awareness of good practice bolsters the rounded support of children with ASD and leads to the creation of an equitable society, free from discrimination.
