“Backpack journalism" is a hands-on, interactive workshop for secondary school children. A backpack with a smartphone and a laptop is all you need to produce journalism that will make its way around the world.

A practical, interactive workshop for students aspiring to become journalists. Experimenting with new media and technologies, teenagers will unravel the mythology of the 1980s in our country, getting to know from the beginning a misunderstood decade which was intensely experienced by their parents and teachers.

Students will learn to find interesting subjects, do research, and to make their own content (photographs, video, image), which they will be able to publish in social media and the Internet! The exhibition GR80s, organized at Onassis Stegi, will be their starting point. There, they will see a decade marked by fascinating events, which has shaped a unique and colorful pop culture and has given rise to stars who have become the markers of our history.

Workshop Objective
The journalists participating in this workshop aim to inspire participants, conveying the main principles of journalism, practical advice for the main tools they will need as reporters, as well as information about new media. Upon completion, each student or team will be in a position to propose smart cultural topics with regard to performances and exhibitions taking place at Onassis Stegi.
