The Statue of Liberty and Joker, two wandering street performers, end up in the same police cell. When the systemic brutality of the state and the police “breaks” Liberty, Joker will search for the pieces to rebuild her from scratch.

Director's note
While walking through the central streets of New York, Los Angeles, and Athens, I couldn’t help but notice the surrealism of street performers. In this social and cultural context, the protagonists embody and mirror the ethical values of contemporary society. In an era in which liberty is often challenged and broken by the institutions that supposedly protect it, two performers resist and seek to rebuild what has been lost. “A Piece of Liberty” gives the hope that a Joker, even in the darkest times, insists on the fight against injustice.
