Stavros Zafeiris

Stavros Zafeiris was born in Athens in 1983 and went to school in the same city. At the age of ten, he started playing in his hometown’s little football leagues, and by the age of fourteen, he made it to the Youth National Teams. At the age of sixteen, following a motorcycle accident while joyriding with a friend, he became a paraplegic. He spend nine months in the hospital. He finished school in Athens, at Ilion’s Highschool for Students with Special Needs, and he was admitted at the Department of Theater Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

At the age of 32, he became interested in dancing and became a member of Dagipoli dance company, a team founded by George Christakis. He performed with them in a number of shows, and in the summer of 2016, he became a member of Exis professional inclusive dance group. With Exis he co-created the dance performance “Block” and presented it in various festivals. In the summer of 2017, he attended for a month the program “DanceAbility” run by Alito Alessi in Thessaloniki, and became a certified dance teacher.

In February 2018, he had his first acting experience playing a small role in Jean Paul Sartre’s “'Nekrassov”, a theater performance by the professional troupe THEAMA. In May of the same year, Exis presented the dance show “'Mandis” in Athens, in collaboration with the French choreographer Sophie Bulybyan and her company DK-BEL. In December of the same year, he took part in THEAMA’s “'Maria Stuart'” by Friedrich Schiller – an adapted performance created by Sofia Stavrakaki.

2019 was a calmer year in terms of professional activities, so Stavros developed an interest in diving. He took his beginners diploma and visited Hong Kong and Thailand, where he did dive in various underwater environments. In March 2020, he took part in the dance show “Apoihos” by Exis, and started studying acting at ISON, with Vassilis Oikonomou as his teacher. In 2021, he continued his acting lessons, while he started rehearsing for “Blindfold,” a theater production by THEAMA.
