Pavlos Pavlidis is a musician, lyricist, and singer. Born in Bremen, Germany on October 13, 1964, he grew up in Veria, Greece. He was a member of the band Mora sti Fotia (“Baby’s on Fire”) from 1984 to 1988.
In 1992, he founded the band Xylina Spathia (“Wooden Swords”), working as a singer, composer, and lyricist. Following the band’s break-up in 2003, and after releasing the solo album “Afou Loipon Xehastika…” (“So Since I Lost Track…”) in 2004, he founded B-Movies, recording music and performing live with the band up until the spring of 2020.
In the spring of 2016, he wrote the music for the performance “Beyond Collapse”, conceived and choreographed by Evi Souli. In 2019, he wrote the music for a theater production of Sophocles’ “Philoctetes” by Elephas Tiliensis / Dimitris Agartzidis – Despina Anastasoglou.
In December 2021, he released the album “To Mavro Kouti” (“The Black Box”). The process of recording and presenting this record led to the formation of Hotel Alaska – a fresh group of musicians currently performing at his side.

In 2019, Pavlos Pavlidis was invited by the great composer Yannis Markopoulos – in honor of his 80th birthday, and to mark the 60 years or so he has been active in the Greek and international music scenes – to adapt and rework his songs and orchestral pieces. As a result, the contemporary singer-songwriter has brought his own signature style to the works, which interlaces beautifully with Yiannis Markopoulos’ own unmistakable artistry to create a collection of 18 pieces of music presented as part of a performance lasting around 90 minutes.
