STAGES A/LIVE present Pavlos Pavlidis Trio at Principal Club Theater

Digital premiere: 28.03.2021 at 21:00

STAGES A/LIVE will be coming to you from Thessaloniki once more. On Sunday, March 28 at 21:00, Pavlos Pavlidis – accompanied by two exceptional musicians: Fotis Siotas on violin, loops and vocals, and Dimitris Tsekouras on double bass – will be bringing the Principal Club Theater stage to life on the Onassis Foundation YouTube Channel, with a concert filmed by Cristos Sarris.

Classic songs by Pavlos Pavlidis that made history take on a new intensity, deconstructed and rebuilt from scratch. Together with Fotis Siotas on violin, loops and vocals, and Dimitris Tsekouras on double bass, Pavlos Pavlidis will be taking to the Principal Club Theater stage in Thessaloniki stage to take us on a journey to a land that exists on no map. On Sunday, March 28 at 21:00, on the Onassis Stegi YouTube Channel, three outstanding musicians will be experimenting with sound, redefining both the music of yesterday, and indie rock music today. An outing of STAGES A/LIVE like no other.

For almost four decades, Pavlos Pavlidis has been blazing his own edgy, distinctive trail on his own terms, each step boldly bringing the next. Like now, for instance: turning to Fotis Siotas, an avant-garde (and more) violinist and old friend from Thessaloniki, with double bass player Dimitris Tsekouras brought in to complete the puzzle. Guitar and violin, loops and double bass, all set to work in service of a trio experimenting with the raw ingredients of Pavlos Pavlidis’ diverse body of work to date, with his classic songs taking on a new intensity and, in some cases, being rebuilt from scratch, without ever dismantling the core ideas and concerns of Pavlidis’ songwriting.

STAGES A/LIVE
STAGES A/LIVE is a series of concerts without audiences but with lots of music, hosted by the Onassis Foundation YouTube Channel. An alternative digital world tour featuring our favorite bands and artists, and everything we’ve experienced with them at legendary past lives held at landmark venues such as Gagarin 205, AN Club, and other music stages in Athens and Thessaloniki.

Until we can all be together again at a live concert, music will be bringing us closer, even though we’re far apart, helping us to relive memories and concerts shared with thousands of people – both friends and strangers – via our screens. Greece’s indie music stages were created to support young artists, and have supported yet more audiences with bands once unknown that went on to become legends, in no small part thanks to their performances at historic concert venues. Fuzzy memories that today spark nostalgia, and a need for these stages to pull through – places where we feel safe and full of energy.

In this difficult time for people working in the arts, the Onassis Foundation is actively supporting these spaces that, due to the pandemic, are close to shutting their doors for good. Stages drained of artists, of technicians, of audiences – and of life.

PRINCIPAL CLUB THEATER

Principal Club Theater is one of the busiest and most enterprising concert venues in Thessaloniki. Since 2004, it has hosted numerous major names from the Greek and international music scenes. In 2017, it moved to the Fix Complex, taking over a new space with a large-scale stage. The Principal Club Theater stage has been graced by artists from across the music spectrum (indie, metal, electronica, post rock, hip hop, punk, ethnic…), such as Morrissey, Madrugada, Motörhead, Calexico, Manu Chao, Editors, Gotan Project, The Tiger Lillies, Gogol Bordello, Faithless, Isaac Hayes, and hundreds more. It has left an indelible mark in the minds of both the public and the international music industry as one of the most remarkable contemporary concert venues in Europe, experienced in superbly organizing major arts productions. The last concert before lockdown hit was held in the space on March 7, 2020.
