Dr. Katerina Drosinou is a special education teacher. She studied Philosophy, Pedagogy and Psychology at the School of Philosophy, University of Athens (UoA), where she also obtained a Master’s degree in School Psychology and a PhD in SPECIAL EDUCATION, the latter with a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). Her thesis was about counseling of parents with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), while part of her research study was conducted in collaboration with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic of the Athens University Medical School, at the “Aghia Sophia” Children’s Hospital.
She has been working since 2005 in the field of special education, in both the public and private sector, offering diagnostic and therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and young adults with ASD and other psychosocial difficulties. In addition, she provides therapeutic and pedagogic services to educational institutions, and supervision of mental health professionals.
Her research interests focus on applied behavior analysis, behavioral family therapy and psychoeducation, the implementation of social stories, and the treatment of learning disabilities, aiming primarily at family empowerment, through improving the interaction of the child with ASD with parents and typically developing siblings.
She has conducted many presentations at Greek and international conferences and has taken part as an instructor in numerous seminars aiming at raising awareness among mental health professionals.
Since 2017 she is part of the scientific team developing the research and educational programs of the Onassis Foundation.
