We're going to talk about relationships. The commonest of things.

About that inevitable connection that makes life enjoyable, painful, unbearable, special, and humane. We’re going to talk about what goes on in our homes, in the confines of a bed, the kinds of things we only tell trusted friends, seeking sanctuary in despair and sharing in joy.

Love, friendship, the never-ending journey of forgiving our parents, resigned to the fact that not living alone has its deserved price.

That's where art comes in. To elevate the humble and sublime privilege of connecting, of opening up, of overcoming the fear of exposing both our good side and our bad, of losing sleep and control, of getting shattered by betrayal, of surrendering to surprise, of feeling the safety of trust, the pleasure of contact, the multiplication of emotion and experience, the affirmation of memory.

In this year's productions, Onassis Stegi talks about love as the necessary force to strive, to dream, and to evolve as people and citizens, to build community.

Relationships are our support, the necessary dopamine to claim a more loving, more interesting life for ourselves and for others, for all of us. They are the antidote to the boredom and tedium of a tidy routine.

Can you fit the story of a great romance into an hour-long performance? Can a powerful memory fit into a single song?

Art knows how to play the game of time. We are invited to play it too, to consider that in flight and in fall, relationships are the place where we feel alive.
