Seven centuries of cultural heritage, open to all through guided tours.

The Onassis Library is opening its doors to the public once more, for a fifth year, as part of the 2023 edition of Open House – one of the most important international initiatives showcasing and promoting architecture. The back-to-back tours scheduled to run from Saturday, April 1 through until Sunday, April 2, between the hours of 11:00 and 15:00, will focus both on the architecture of this three-story Athenian townhouse dating to 1905, and on the unique exhibits housed by the Onassis Library. Inside this exquisite neoclassical building, found at number 56 Amalias Avenue, more than 50 works of art by some of Greece’s most major artists, the piano bought by Aristotle Onassis so that Maria Callas could rehearse while journeying on his yacht the “Christina”, and personal items gathered from the shipping magnate’s offices in Monte Carlo are set alongside rare Greek-language publications dating from the 15th century right through to the present day, as well as non-Greek books written by Western European travelers dating from the 16th century onwards.
