This year's three-day seminar, running from Friday, December 6th, to Sunday, December 8th, includes lectures, sessions and workshops giving a glimpse into the future, discussing the most innovative developments in fields that have only recently been explored in Greece, thus highlighting the critical role of innovation and science in safeguarding the chain of life through organ donation and transplantation.

It aims to address key questions about machine perfusion and the potential to improve the organs’ quality, as well as to the tests and trials necessary to advance the field further. Participants will gain insights into new technologies in organ perfusion, including cold storage, hypo- and normo-thermic machine perfusion, new strategies in heart and lung perfusion, and oxygenation during liver and kidney perfusion. A highlight of this year's agenda is a dedicated presentation on the present and the future of Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD), discussing the basic concepts and ethical aspects of controlled DCD (organ donation after controlled death).

More than 140 participants will be welcomed in this year’s training seminar, which is held by the Onassis Foundation, under the scientific auspices of the Hellenic Transplant Organization and the Onassis Hospital, thus underscoring the significance of this training program for the scientific community.

The Transplant Masterclasses initiative is a groundbreaking effort developed under the auspices of the Hellenic Transplant Organization (HTO) and Onassis Hospital. It is part of the National Initiative on Organ Donation and Transplantation, undertaken and implemented by the Onassis Foundation.

We are shaping the future in transplantation together.
