Introduction

A concert by the ensemble of an ingenious musician, who has forged new paths for the intersections of architectural structures and jazz improvisation. Admittedly, Mehldau has been one of the greatest influences on pianists for the last twenty years.

This is the trio of a charismatic pianist. Since 2000, Brad Mehldau has been perhaps the most discussed pianist, with one of the most lyric and familiar sounds in music today. He has forged his own path by incorporating in his explorations of jazz music, the romanticism of Schubert, Brahms, Schumann, as well as pop rock.

His band has received excellent reviews by critics, while he has had an important international exposure through collaborations with artists including Pat Metheny, Renée Fleming, and Joshua Redman. Mehldau continues to receive numerous awards and recognition by jazz fans and mere music lovers.

Either playing solo or with his trio, he has made superb covers of songs by contemporary composers, such as the Beatles, Cole Porter, Radiohead, Paul Simon, Gershwin, and Nick Drake. At the same time, he continuously expands his important catalogue of original compositions.

With his admitted love for pop music and classical education, "Mehldau is the most influential jazz pianist of the last two decades" (“The New York Times”).
