Digital Material | Wikipedia Challenge: Become a Contemporary Encyclopedist

Becoming familiar with the role of the encyclopedia, its methods and content, are the first steps for the entry-writing marathon for Wikipedia. The necessary educational material is offered online for free.

In taking on the task of enriching the category of “1821 Greek Revolution” in Greek Wikipedia, in the context of the Panhellenic Student Contest of Encyclopedia Entry Writing “Become a Contemporary Encyclopedist”, participating school teams will be asked to work with a wealth of information, sources, and facts; their aim is to facilitate students and teachers as well as encourage participation in the competition. Talks, training, workshops, bibliography, and specific references will ensure an academic and scientific approach to the contemporary digital web of information.

Teachers and students will have free and open access to this inclusive material drawn from a wide range of sources. Essential for the editing of historical entries for this competition, the material can be accessed through the digital educational platform of the Onassis Foundation Classroom. It will be offered in the form of asynchronous classes.
