The Onassis Foundation and Uni.Fund jointly organize a series of webinars for the support of Technology Transfer at Greek Universities and Research Centers. The second webinar delves into the management and protection of intellectual property.

How a TTO protects technologies through patents and other forms of intellectual property: An overview of policy, compliance, terms and agreements

The first part of the webinar will analyze the role of Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) in intellectual property management, through presentations by Dr. Alexandros Papaderos and Ms. Athina Iconomidou, members of the Scientific Board of the Domain of Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property at the National Council for Research and Innovation (NCRI). Mr. Sotiris Laganopoulos, Director of the Programmes & Grants Management and Coordination Department of the Bodossaki Foundation, will analyze the role and function of a Patent Fund, drawing on his experience from managing the Foundation’s respective programs.The second part of the webinar will include specific examples of intellectual property protection, presented by Mr. Costas Balas, Professor at the Technical Univerity of Crete and founder of the company QCell; Dr. Evangelos Gongolidis, founder of the companies Nanoplasmas and Nanometrisis, a spin-off of NCSR Demokritos; Ms. Athina Iconomidou, co-founder of the company ResQ Biotech; and Dr. Zoe Cournia, researcher at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens, and founder of the company Ingredio. The speakers will refer to the processes they have followed for the protection of intellectual property in their business endeavors, as well as to its importance for the companies’ development. The presentation will be followed by an audience discussion.
