Sofia Vgenopoulou, the director and artistic director of the Grasshopper theater company, enlisted the talents of Vangelis Hatziyannidis to write Greece’s first play for teenagers.

The news spreads like wildfire through the school. It’s nothing short of a bombshell: it’s even rumored they’d been caught on camera! Developments are swift and take a curious turn: friendships are put to the test, some collapse under the strain, others emerge stronger than before... It’s decision time: how easy it is to stand up against your whole class? In a society like our own, how vulnerable is our private life? And what role can the moonlight play, or our fear of losing someone we love?

Sofia Vgenopoulou, the director and artistic director of the Grasshopper theater company, enlisted the talents of Vangelis Hatziyannidis to write Greece’s first play for teenagers; "Screenlight", the latest chapter in her successful career in teenage theater, delves without prejudice or didacticism into the harsh truths about growing up.

Parallel Event

Workshop after the performance “Screenlight” by Sophia Vgenopoulou and the Grasshopper theater company

On Thursdays and Fridays, 10 November 2011 - 4 May 2012
11:00-13:00 | 5th floor - Young Theater Workshop
8 € per child (including the workshop)

The performance is followed up by an experiential workshop especially adapted for schoolchildren and staged by the Educational Programs Department in collaboration with the company’s theater specialists, who are also experienced educationalists.

The workshop includes a discussion and exchange of views and stimuli with the actors and other members of the team, as well as experiential games, exercises and a series of educational activities. The program aims to familiarize the participants with theater and cinema techniques, to help them reflect on the stimuli they received from the production, and to guide them to an understanding of how their personal and social quests can find expression and release through theater.

Addressed to:
School children aged 13-18
