Plays written by Greek teenagers for Greek teenagers are presented in a theater-thon whose focus is firmly on young people’s lives and concerns.

The Grasshopper company and the people behind "Screen Light", Vangelis Hatzigiannidis’ production for young people, invited theater groups from secondary schools, municipalities and vulnerable social groups to take part in the 2nd Young People’s Theater Festival.

Plays written by Greek teenagers for Greek teenagers are presented in a theater-thon whose focus is firmly on young people’s lives and concerns. The event seeks to cultivate a fruitful artistic exchange and to focus attention on the problems facing young people today.

The Festival’s organizers and artistic directors worked with the groups’ leaders, coordinating theatrical workshops and providing artistic oversight for the productions that grew out of them.

Seven theater groups from very different parts of Athens, five hours of young people’s theater, eighty teenagers on stage. Seven productions, each one different and unique, but all of them the result of these young people’s inspiration, vision, determination and strength, and the product of collective work.

What is young people’s theater? Is it the exclusive preserve of teenagers, or has it something to say to adults, too, and society as a whole? Let us open our ears and eyes to our children’s world; they are our children, and they have something to tell us.
