This play by the talented playwright from Teheran melds on stage the rhythms of the Persian narrative tradition and the harsh realities of life in refugee settlements.

When an Iranian trying to make it to the UK meets a young pregnant woman, the two refugees decide to join forces for the remainder of their journey.

Written during Amir Reza Koohestani’s residence at London’s Royal Court Theatre, this play by the talented playwright from Teheran melds on stage the rhythms of the Persian narrative tradition and the harsh realities of life in refugee settlements.

The Iranian director stages a singularly sensitive, poetic production set against poetic images of water which indirectly call to mind the English Channel—the final barrier dividing the refugees from their destination.
