Information

Dramaturgies of damage for damaged futures (or post-science fiction phantasmagories under the zone of climate change and the swift to far-right).

At the first staging of a Thomas Köck’s work in Greece, the award-winning playwright of “Paradise,” which is presented at the Onassis Stegi Upper Stage between October 29 and November 11, 2021, offers a masterclass on dramaturgy, on Saturday, October 30, and talks with the director Katerina Giannopoulou and the dramaturg Grigoris Liakopoulos on the possibilities and the boundaries of dramatic writing and the relation between playwright and director: How can one write today a theater play, amidst pandemics, endemics, climate change, apocalyptic environmental scenarios about our planet, and the rise of far-right? Does the text remain the most important element of a performance, or not? What is the distance between the written text and the performative act, but also between stage and reality?

With the support of Goethe-Institut Athen
