What do you need to create your own virtual reality? Two hours in the Onassis Library, which offers you rich material, specifically consoles, tablets, VR and AR technology and the guidance of specialist educators, who will help you create your own works of digital art.

Through an interdisciplinary digital workshop tailored to the rich material of the Onassis Library, participants will gain familiarity with contemporary technologies of virtual and augmented reality, and will become artists of the future, gaining unique interactive experiences of the space and its objects.

See the Onassis Library digitally!

Participants tour of the collections of the Onassis Library, using technologies of augmented reality to focus on selected works and see information related to each, digitally, through the screen of their tablet.

Build your own digital “sculpture”

Taking inspiration from the collection of artworks at the Onassis Foundation, our young friends are invited to imagine and create their own digital “sculpture.” With the guidance of a specialist educator and using the relevant technology of virtual reality, together with motion-tracking cameras and specialized joysticks, they will create a digital, 3-D work of art.

Create a 3-D painting

Participants will experience a unique creative experience of augmented reality. They’ll get inspired, let their imaginations run free, and add color to a reproduction of Dimosthenis Kokkinides’s painting “Scene from Book Five of The Odyssey”. Then, they’ll see their creations come to life and become three-dimensional on a tablet.

Enjoy art digitally and in three dimensions

Participants gain familiarity with the use and applications in art of technologies of virtual reality. Using relevant equipment, they enjoy 3-D tours of digital art exhibits and come into contact with works of art from all over the world, as if they were standing before them.

At the end of the workshop, parents and guardians will receive e-mail copies of their children’s 3-D creations to keep.
