Introduction

Robotics, artificial intelligence, collective intelligence, drones, 3-D printers, and augmented reality extend the city’s possibilities and limits. How will we live in the cities of tomorrow? Bring your ideas, suggestions, and imagination, and we’ll build a city of the future together.

How can a city use new technology to improve the way we live? How do we balance freedom and security? What is a truly “smart” city?

Our experience in the city is constantly changing, thanks to smart systems and machines that make our everyday lives easier, but also continually surveil and process our movements. As you might imagine, this can be both good and bad, something we will discuss in this workshop.

All you have to do is bring your ideas about how you’d like your city to be in the future, what you’d like it to offer you and what you’d like to see around you every day, so together we can create a plan for the Athens of the future. We’ll create imaginary urban spaces, habitats, smart infrastructure and networks, all with the goal of creating a new kind of city where we can feel both safe and free.
