Introduction
One of the four elements of Nature—perhaps the most playful—takes center stage in our workshop. The wind comes to sweep us off onto a journey of knowledge and discovery. We learn how winds are created, what their names are, and also myths about them.

“May there be wind in your sails,” is sailors’ wish for any sailboat setting off to sea. “The North Wind is blowing, it’s freezing,” we say in winter, and when the summer heat is at its worst, the old folks say, “Lord, that libecchio.” If you visit an island you might hear the fishermen talking about the Graigo or the Levante. Who are they all? Winds! Strong winds that can move earth and sea alike.
So, we’ll meet these winds, hear traditional myths about them, and talk about wind-warriors, like the Samurai wind or the Kamikaze wind. We’ll learn their secrets and raise real sails. Finally, we’ll all create our own wind vane as a memento of our wind-workshop!
