The public will come in contact with the design format of the book during the centuries.

By analyzing the different parts of an edition, participants will learn what is a title page, an initial letter, a dedication, a printer’s mark, a colophon, etc., using examples from the Onassis Library digital collection and other images from contemporary Greek books.

During the seminar, we will highlight the most important editions of the Greek typography from 15th to 21st centuries, in order to make the historical connection between traditional and modern way of printing.

At the end, the audience will gain an initial sense of the art of typography and will be able to think critically on the design format of the book.
