Don DeLillo, one of the most influential authors of the last thirty years, returns to Greece -an old stamping ground of his- for a conversation with the journalist and author Elias Maglinis.
A powerful dissector of the paranoia of our era, of power relations overt and covert, of collective fears and individual obsessions, author of a number of exceptional psychological-political novels including “Libra”, “Underworld”, “White Noise” and “Cosmopolis” (which David Cronenberg recently made into a film), Don DeLillo is rightfully considered one of the greatest living American writers.
After a stint as a copywriter at a Madison Avenue advertising agency (his time there coincided with TV’s “Mad Men”), DeLillo dedicated himself to prose writing, spurred on in large part by the great “American tragedy”—his term for the assassination of President Kennedy. He would go on to analyze the famous amateur footage of the shooting in later works which posit the dark power of the image in contemporary culture and call into question in subversive and disturbing fashion a good deal that we take to be fact or just plain common sense.
After the event, Don DeLillo will sign books.
