Middle- and high-school students “reconstruct” the room of the Alexandrian poet, in a digital storytelling workshop.

How do you imagine the space in which C. P. Cavafy worked on his writings? In the creative workshop “Cavafy’s Room,” teenagers browse through and get acquainted with the digital collection of the Cavafy Archive, they are introduced to visual poetry devices and they create video poems through stop-motion animation techniques.

Getting to know C.P. Cavafy through his archive, students select the digital items they will use in their composition, and they process them with open software. Consequently, using simple video image processing applications, they compose their own individual stop motion video poems, re-enacting the poet’s personal and intimate environment.

In the context of this workshop, students learn to gather and purposefully use information on each item, through the digital collection of the Cavafy Archive’ s extensive documentation.

Application and Selection Process

Applications can be submitted to the email address education@onassis.org, with the phrase “Cavafy’s Room” in the subject line. Deadline: October 25, 2021.

The application should include the number of students and the school’s website.

The evaluation of the submitted proposals is completed after a meeting with the program coordinators of each school.

Applications will be assessed on a priority basis.

Programmed for the 2020-21 season, "Cavafy’s Room" was cancelled due to the precautionary national health measures put in place by the Greek government to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
