Backpack Journalism in the City

Have you ever imagined your class as a news agency? “Backpack Journalism in the City” is a workshop that can change the way in which your students see their neighborhood and their city.

A backpack, a smartphone, and a laptop are enough for today’s journalists to prepare a professional reportage with texts, videos, and photos. As students are necessarily consumers of news products, you will gradually get them acquainted with news and information verification techniques.

In three sessions only you will get in touch with the tools and principles of modern journalism. Through simple, practical advice, you will manage to guide your students to achieve a double goal. Firstly, they will turn into urban reporters, responsibly producing online news content about their neighborhood; and secondly, they will become informed consumers of this content in its multiple versions.
