Xenia Kounalaki
Xenia Kounalaki was born in Hamburg, Germany, and has been a journalist and a weekly columnist of the daily newspaper “Kathimerini” since 1994.
She studied Communication and Media at the University of Athens. She has also worked for the Greek National Television (ERT, 1995-2013), the NET’s TV channel daily news show, as anchorwoman and producer of “ART-NET” TV show, and for the ERT’s Third Program Radio.
Xenia is co-author of the book “Via” (“Violence” in Greek, Polis editions, 2012). In 2012, she was awarded with the international press freedom prize ‘Premio internazionale per la libertà di stampa’, in Florence, Italy. Between 2016 and 2019, she has published three books, among them an essay on anti-Semitism in Greece, and a novel (all three on Polis editions).
