Michalis Chryssanthopoulos

Michalis Chryssanthopoulos is Professor Emeritus of General and Comparative Literature at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He studied Law, Economics and History at the University of Athens and the London School of Economics, and Literature at the University of Birmingham. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Birmingham. He has worked as a lawyer at the Athens Bar, as a translator for the Commission of the E.U. in Brussels and as a producer for the BBC World Service in London. He has published on Modern Greek literature of the 19th and 20th century from a comparative perspective (books and papers on Vizyinos, Cavafy, surrealism etc.), on the theory of literature and on autobiography. His book, "Εκατό χρόνια πέρασαν κι ένα καράβι": Ο ελληνικός υπερρεαλισμός και η κατασκευή της παράδοσης [Greek surrealism and the construction of tradition], Athens, Agra, 2012, was awarded the Greek National Prize for Critical and Essay Writing in 2013.
